These pastoral bays still resemble the ‘delectable landscape’ that Lawrence Durrell fell for in the 1930s. One may venture inland to the UNESCO heritage site of Old Perithia, an enchanting, abandoned village with footpaths, honey producers, and tavernas that specialize in local dishes and delicacies!

The cosmopolitan capital is a charming clash of Venetian, British and French colonial influences. A place where evenings kick off with cocktails on the Liston (a colonnade modelled on Paris’s rue de Rivoli), followed by dinner at one of the many outstanding restaurants in the confines of the island’s other designated UNESCO Heritage site of Old Corfu Town.
